Northwoods Velvære Studio began with a single word: velvære.
In Scandinavian cultures, velvære speaks to well-being that is lived rather than achieved. It is feeling at ease in your body. It is connection to your inner world. It is moving in rhythm with nature instead of pushing against it.
Paired with the Northwoods landscape that has shaped my life, this word became the foundation of my work as a somatic therapist and yoga teacher.
Northwoods Velvære Studio offers private-pay somatic therapy for women throughout Minnesota & North Dakota via telehealth, along with yoga, workshops, and education focused on nervous system support and whole-person well-being.
Northwoods Velvære Studio supports women who are ready to move beyond simply getting through the day.
Many of the women I work with are capable, compassionate, and deeply caring. They have spent years supporting others while quietly carrying stress, burnout, chronic illness, trauma, neurodivergence, grief, or major life transitions.
Together, we create space to slow down, reconnect with the body, strengthen self-trust, and cultivate a greater sense of ease, clarity, and well-being.
Here, you do not have to keep proving your strength.
Meet Bobbi Jo
I'm Bobbi Jo Hamilton, MSW, LICSW, a somatic therapist, registered yoga teacher, and founder of Northwoods Velvære Studio.
I provide somatic therapy for women across Minnesota & North Dakota through telehealth, supporting those navigating anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, trauma, chronic illness, neurodivergence, grief, and life transitions.
My approach combines somatic therapy, mindfulness, nervous system awareness, and compassionate exploration. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, I help clients understand how their experiences live within the body while developing practical tools for greater resilience, self-compassion, and connection.
I understand what it means to live in survival mode. To disconnect from your body in order to cope. To feel pressure to stay strong no matter the cost.
My work gently supports women in reconnecting with themselves, rebuilding trust with their bodies, and finding steadiness from the inside out.
As a veteran, I hold deep respect for the many roles women carry throughout their lives. Whether through military service, caregiving, parenthood, professional responsibilities, chronic illness, or life's unexpected challenges, many women learn to push through at the expense of their own well-being.
Therapy can be a place to set that burden down for a while.
Here, rest does not need to be earned.
Outside of the Studio
Outside of my work, I stay grounded close to home. I spend time in my gardens, tending flowers and creating spaces that feel calm and restorative. I value slow mornings, time outdoors, and rhythms that invite presence over productivity.
Time with my partner, children, grandchildren, and our dogs and cats brings daily connection and laughter. These simple rhythms continue to shape how I live and how I care for others.
These simple rhythms remind me that healing is often found in small moments of connection, presence, and returning to what matters most.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief:
Healing is not about becoming someone new.
It is about remembering who you are beneath the stress, expectations, and survival strategies that helped you get this far.
Healing is not linear.
But it is possible.
And it begins by listening inward.
