Frequently Asked Questions

  • Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that recognizes how stress, trauma, anxiety, and overwhelm can affect both the mind and the body.

Rather than focusing only on thoughts and emotions, somatic therapy also explores nervous system responses, body awareness, sensations, breath, movement, and patterns that may be contributing to distress. The goal is to help you build self-awareness, self-trust, and a greater sense of ease and connection within yourself.

  • Many women spend years caring for others while putting their own needs aside. Somatic therapy helps women reconnect with themselves by exploring the relationship between the body, emotions, stress, and the nervous system.

This approach can be especially supportive for women experiencing burnout, anxiety, trauma, chronic stress, life transitions, grief, chronic illness, or feeling disconnected from themselves.

  • I primarily support adult women who are experiencing:

    • Trauma and PTSD

    • Anxiety and depression

    • Burnout and chronic stress

    • Life transitions

    • Grief and loss

    • Neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism

    • Chronic illness and chronic pain

    • Low self-esteem and self-trust challenges

    • Relationship difficulties

    • Emotional overwhelm

Many of the women I work with are used to being the caregiver, helper, or strong one and are ready to create more space for themselves.

Many people begin therapy because they want support, greater self-understanding, healthier coping strategies, or a deeper connection with themselves. You do not need to wait until things feel overwhelming to seek support.

I accept insurance through Headway for plans I am credentialed with. Insurance coverage varies by plan, so I encourage prospective clients to verify their benefits before beginning services.

  • If your insurance is not accepted through Headway, you may choose to work with me through private-pay therapy.

Private-pay therapy offers flexibility and allows us to focus on your goals without many of the limitations that can accompany insurance-based treatment.

  • Private-pay therapy means you pay directly for services rather than using insurance.

Some clients choose private pay because they want increased privacy, greater flexibility, or prefer not to have a mental health diagnosis shared with an insurance company.

If you are uninsured or choose not to use insurance, federal law gives you the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected costs of services before treatment begins.

  • The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another.

We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, your history, and any questions you may have. Together, we'll explore how I can best support you and determine whether we are a good fit.

There is no pressure to share everything right away. We move at a pace that honors your comfort, boundaries, and nervous system.
